Don't torture me man!

A series 2 Lightweight? I'd almost forgotten how much I loved my Lightweight and now you've brought it all back. The only car i've ever regretted selling!

I'll need to buy another one now!

Land Rover

Post  Mr Bridger on Tue Oct 20, 2009 7:00 pm

Thats funny, I am looking for a series 2 a 109 inch wheelbase Safari Land Rover.

Its registration is BKO 686C last seen in a 1969 film............

Any one know of its whereabouts ?

As far as I know it is owned by Ken Wright, who was employed as a welder on the film and he purchased it afterwards. He lives in a village near St Albans in hertfordshire.

I have heard a rumour that it is now in a private Land Rover collection with other film vehicles like the ones from Judge Dredd etc.

Judge Dredd City Cab

Post  Martin & Nettie on Wed Oct 21, 2009 12:50 pm

"Based on the Land Rover 101 Forward Control, a model used mainly by the military. We did this as the vehicles had to be fairly large -as the script called for these taxis to be capable of carrying six passengers within a highly protected cell.

"We had less than three months to complete the design process, including producing quarter and full sized models before delivering the finished vehicles to the film set. At one point up to 20 people from Rover Group Design worked on the project. We also had to make sure that all 31 vehicles could be driven including one with a fully designed and equipped interior.

“The result is a vehicle looking more than capable of taking on a world which has such a hostile environment. The futuristic look and aggressive stance has been enhanced by avoiding rounded body panels and edges, extending the wheels by ten inches and using very small windows.”

Would have made at least the reserve if I hadn't fat fingered my last minute bid (was down to 2mins when I finally persuaded the wife and had to run upstairs to the PC).
Oh well, will be waiting for it to go up again.

If not are there any other SWB Mk3's in running order on the market right now?

Welcome to the forum Iank.

I don't know of any other MK3s for sale through the SOC so it might be worth PMing Jono direct regarding his MK3GT.

Thanks, looks like a friendly place Smile (and a muppet free zone Cool)

Well I emailed him through ebay and he was going to stick it back on again. I'd be happy to make an offer off ebay, but equally I'm happy to bid along with everyone else.

Hi Ian,

I sent the same message to everyone who contacted me after the auction had finished.

"If I don't re-list it for a few days, if you "google" Scamp Owners club and find the Forum, You'll see it's on there."

It's for sale on here.....not back on E-bay......

Cheers, Jono
