You're right, you are a bit tight for space aren't you.
It's looking better already Tom. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh (or should that be Treadplate ).

At least with all that treadplate people can sit and stand on it without fear of buckling your panels - Ricks son sat on my bonnet a couple of years a go and you can still see the ouline of of his cheeks - kids who'd hav'em - keep at it and don't forget to download your membership form from our website and send it to Rose

Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
Hi,
Looks like you've got about the same amount of work to do as i did when i started...
On a serious note, decide what you want to use the little beast for, for off-road or road use, before you start doing too much work...
I started off wanting to have a cute looking off-road car.....now it's got to the stage where i don't want to ruin all my work by taking it off road...
Start thinking logistics now...if you have access to a trailer you will be more inclined to use it harder offroad.
If like me you don't have a trailer, you'll get paranoid that you'll break it & not be able to get home.
Saying that it is still possible to have loads offun in a scamp without pushing it too hard offroad.
just my 2p worth...
Have fun on the rebuild, there is a wealth of knowledge available on here...
Neil

Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
My sentiments too, my 1st Scamp a Mk2 was reffered to as a golf buggy with its 10 inch mini wheels, then I got the bug and wanted to do more and more offroading so I added extra tubes to keep the chassis from bending (Colin Edmondson 's excellent booklet) then I wanted one for offroading so I built Cyclops with exhaust under the front bumper and then I wanted a 4x4 and a Scamp so I bought the Yellow Peril 2 the prototype GT4x4 so good luck and don't be afraid to ask

Toms refurb
Hi Tom
Hope you dont mind but i have copied the shortcuts to your photo's into to the "Tech" area where you can show the progression of your rebuild.
I was at the washed out (almost) Great Western Mini Day charity event for Southmead Hospital with the Mini's.
I will be down at the Bristol and West showground with my Scamp and my mini club, the "Funky Monkies" on the 25th Nov. We will also be attending Castle Coombe on the 26th Sept.
Hope to see you soon and keep it going, regards Rob

Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
Yea i dont know what the crack is with the checker plate, i just seem to have a thing for it! I want it to look kind of commercial (as 90% of materials are coming from my works stores lol).
I want to do quite alot of off roading and already welded in extra box section to support this, also going to be using hi-lo's and gaz adjustables and a decent set of mud and snows when i come across some.
Also planning to run fuel and brake pipes through the box with an alu plate underneath for extra protection off road.
Im not really too worried about damaging it as its so easy to repair...as long as its drivable after!
Iv also got a 1989 Racing green which i gave a full make over too last summer.
I recognise the funky monkeys from previous shows, im with severn mini club (Loads of minis but not many on the raod atm) and we'll be at castle coobme on the 26th for sure so hopefully see you all there.
thanks again everybody

Hello, Tom the best thing is to come along and see other Scamps and chat to others and copy their ideas. NO ONE cares about using other ideas, bring a tape measure and camera... 10inch wheels aren't any good if you are going to off-road you will be able to off-road but its hard work..there are a very few that use them but you need ground clearance

Funny, I didn't see Chris Yates get stuck at any point during last weekend.
And the Baker boys didn't have many problems either.
!0" rims are just about the coolest thing on MK1s and MK2s, it's just getting hold of the tyres nowadays since Colway went bump. I think 165/60x10 Gravel tyres are around £95 each.
Umm, 10" reverse rims. Uber sexy! Surpassed only be White Revolution four spokes (in any diameter)!
Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
Mr Yate's Mk2 is equipped with special off road devices developed while working for JCB for the last x years that get him out of trouble, they are a closely garded secret and if he told you he would have to kill you, so don't ask him

Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
Yes Martin, I'd forgotten about the super secret JCB technology incorporated into Chris's Scamp that makes the 10" wheels so effective. So secret in fact that the car is delebrately not painted JCB Yellow. The red/black colour scheme itself is a ultra-high tech form of disruptive camoflage.
Re: ummm... some photos i hope!
Not to mention he had us all going at Telford one year when we could not understand how he was getting round when no one else was until we found him removing the snow chains he secretly fitted earlier
