Just a thought, said outloud maybe a person with a "gold plated" Scamp could part-ex

oh well, you know what thought DID.

I almost bought the moulds for the Stimson Scorcher at Stoneleigh show in the 1980s for £1000 and almost
swopped my Scamp mk2 at the time, for his Scorcher, with David from Warrington who ran the N.W.K.C.C
if anyone "MEMBER" has a Scorcher, I WOULD LIKE CONTACT might do a deal next year with my mk3.
STIMSON SCORCHER
The Scorcher is a three wheeler front engine and Mini subframed car/trike in which the rider/driver and passenger's sat in tanddam astride the chassis and had by law to wear crash helmets,
about 30 were made and sold for £375.00 +vat which included four Alloy wheels ( one spair ) and you had to supply your own running gear , steering, foot pedals , handbrake and fuel tank.
The proto type reg was OWV472R and were all made by Barry at Nouveau in Brighton from late 1976 and less than 5cwt in weight had a claimed speed of 100mph from a 850cc Mini engine on a air field test track with standard gearing advertised as having a ptw ratio of 200bhp per ton! and was available pre-assembled or as a kit and could be regesterd as a new motorcycle as the law stated it was a three wheeler motorcycle . All Barrys Scorcher's frame number began with SCR*** and prob the best / worst car he is known for , and last made by Barry in 1980 . Barry sold the Scorcher project in 1981 to a Mr Gerald Pickford of Clanfield , Oxon he was going to build three kits to test the market for late 1982 and redesigning the lower front end with a new integral air dam .Number made by Gerald are unknown beleaved to be only three. The red one in photo is the only one in the uk ,there is also one in Tenerife ,the third one was painted blue and silver and awaiting rebuild .Were are the molds now????????????????????

Hi I will take a look at some of my old photos and see if I took any of the moulds. I guess it was
1985-7ish but that is only a guess.I can find a date closer, if I can find what year I was an invester of Quantum Kitcars
I think, I might still have some paper work,Ian
.
I have found a document dated February 1998 from the Bank of England checking that Quantum Sportscars
(kitcars) had paid me back in full. so I am not sure if it was 1987 or 1997 ....thats old age for you lol!

funny thing is I can still remember the bloke selling the moulds, was also including a built Scorcher
in red and 3 body moulds etc for £1000 .I can also remember it was noted in Kitcar mags about the sale

I would be exceptionally wary of this seller. I purchased a car a few years back that he had sold "with no v5", he claimed it was stolen once I had finished it, the police then seized it and returned it to him. I lost the lot. Take heed. Any policemen on the forum, request a viewing, particularly of his "collection" of Minis....!

Moral: 1) always get a receipt, 2) pay by cheque, not cash. That way there's documented proof of payment.
