Newark 2009
Right then, good news.
The organisers of the Newark show are going to have a 'classic' display in one of the previously empty halls highlighting kit cars from the 60's to the 90's in particular kit from manufacturers that are no longer in existance.
I've Spoken to Kevin Musson who is delighted that it's the Scamps 40th this year as we've always been a strong supporter of the show over the years. I've offered to provide tidy examples of a MK1, MK2 & MK3 for this show within a show and he has jumped at the chance.
I'm going to keep him up to date with what we intend to do as a club for the show to mark the 40th and no doubt we'll get a good pitch if we're going to have a large number of cars or a themed display. There's also the oportunity of doing something with Complete Kit Car
Initially I'm going to e-mail Mr Bridger with something for the magazine and so we need some willing volunteers to donate their Scamps for the weekend and some thoughts on what we're going to do.
OK guys, over to you.

Re: Newark 2009
Is there scope… .and room… to do something a bit "artistic" too? Catching the eye, is always a good way for promoting interest.
Just thinking that as I have a complete Chassis and I’m sure I can find either an old Mini….or borrow one… do a "add this" (on Chassis)…"to this" (on Mini) and "end up with this"..on nice shiny Mk3….…kind of display. Just a thought.

Re: Newark 2009
With the sound of it space in the 'Classic' hall is negiotiable so we could do squeeze a bit more in. Though it's a balance with the club stand and i think that we should have three or four cars in this classic area with the main emphasis on a big effort on the club stand. I'm sure Kevin would give us pride of place if we were bringing something special to the table.
I think it would be a good idea for us all to sit down at the pub meet and do some brainstorming.

New for 2009 a Celebration of the Industry's History!
Through the years while organising the show, we have seen many Kit Car Companies that are now no longer in existence and Car models that are no longer being produced. The Kit Car Industry has been around a long time, since the middle of the last century, we feel it is time to celebrate the fore runners of the modern Kit Car.We are planning to present a display of Kit Cars from the ‘classic’ era the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and the 90’s in a separate Hall, in effect giving you a show within a show.
We will be using The Lady Eastwood Hall for the Classic Kit Car Show, which will give plenty of space for impressive displays. Along side these displays there will be space for indoor trade stands.
We are looking for a range of kitcars that are no longer in production. We will be searching out the well known cars that were produced in vast numbers as well as the small production cars. These kitcars are part of a rich Heritage which we wish to acknowledge in our Classic Kit Car Show.

We always have a great time at Newark (James and Reg have in the past) so lets see if we can get a record number of Scamps at this years show.

Re: Newark 2009
Just an idea for the Club stand. Somebody bring a laptop (one that can be chained down). Everyone who has them, bring photos on CD-ROM, memory card, USB stick or whatever. Merge into one big collection, filtering out duplicates, and display as a slide-show.
I'll volunteer a laptop if I have one by then, I don't at the moment.

Re: Newark 2009
Sounds a good idea - the other option is digital photo frames - although most need an electrical power supply I believe.
We do have an old laptop that is not much use for most things but might do that job. Will get it out and take a look.

Re: Newark 2009
Right then!
The next event is Newark so I'd better get organising hadn't I?
Rick's kindly offered to supply his MK3 for the 'Classic Kit-Car' display being put on by the organisers but I still need a MK1 & MK2 for the weekend. Any volunteers?
Also Fancy dress, a nice easy one - 1969 - So hippy, winkle pickers, mini skirts etc.... are just fine. You can where them all weekend as well if you like.
It would also be great if we could dress the cars up a bit and the stand. Please bring all the Union Jacks you have and any bunting as well.
any more ideas are greatly appriciated.

I don't think Reg will be there either now.... We're still waiting on a few bits to finish off the MESS, so I really can't see it being ready in time.
Hopefully it will be ready for Stourport!

Hi, Welcome to the forum.
Tony and I intend to go Friday evening but won't be arriving until late. I think others will be there before that, yet others will arrive Saturday and some will pop in for the day on Sunday.
Will be good to meet you. (That's if our two mk3s make it there without the help of the AA!)

Re: Newark 2009
Just had letter with all the details of Newark.
Apart from the addition of the 'Classic' Kit-Car show we have bands playing on Friday and Saturday night, a new Cafe in the hall serving proper food, a display for the 5oth anniversary of the Mini and they're showing the British Grand Prix on a big screen on Sunday!
Sorry Gang but we may have to move the AGM so we can all watch the GP and see our man Button win the home Grand Prix!

We might pop down on the sunday. It seems you lot are next to the Nomad clan (according to the site plan). And I'd rather like to see who/what turns up on their stand.
