I am originally from Plymouth, through my Father (both of us ex RAF 36 & 30 years) and still have 2 sisters down in Plympton.

With the Funkey Monkey Mini Club we used to do the annual May BH trip down to Newquay, the last being 6 years ago now.
The nearest I get to you is the Mini show at Castle Coombe, which normally generates about 6 individually Scamps.

Thank you for the welcome Rob, I think you must be the only other member on this forum Is scamp ownership abit clicke? I'm likely to customise the scamp a fair bit and I don't want to offend any purist within the club. Is there such a thing as a pure scamp ect, seeing as they are all kit cars?

A few years back I used to attend the BH Newquay show, bath and west Christmas show and also the mini world action days at coombe. It will be great to finish my scamp so that I can attend these shows again.

My project is pretty much entirely stripped down to a bare chassis. Just column, loom and floors to remove and then it'll be shot blasting time.

I've noticed that a few of the other scamps on the forum have some slight differences in the frame work. There is a blue mk1 that has a roll hoop that tapers into match the front window frame. I like that a lot and also the same car has the screen title back A lot more than mine, alike a jimini kit. I like that a lot also

So many ideas it's a trouble to know when to stop haha

When buying the original kit (mine came from Ebay) You got a pile of steel box section and various ally panels.

Along with the kit you got an exploded view picture.

So the assembly of the kit was down to the builder and how good he was at welding/riveting etc.

Then you take into account the passing years and poss several owners and then you get the various styles that are around today.
After I collected mine and got it MoT'd (it only needed pads and shoes) I got the angle grinder out and chopped out the fwd center roof cross member that I was bashing my head on.

Things do speed up on the forum after we come out of hibernation.

Us, cliquey?  Never!

All Scamps seem to be modified, usually from the original build onwards, according to the owner's whim.  Sometimes to improve on the original design, sometimes to make use of parts and materials already to hand.  Of the hundreds of Scamps I must have seen, only two ever looked totally alike - except for the spotlamp covers which were of different makes.

Having said that, if you should ever find one completely unchanged from the original design, it may be worth keeping it that way.

Scamps are all as much a personalities as their owners. No doubt you'll get to meet the cars, some of which are part of the fabric of the owners club and near legendary status. Their owners more so :-D

I have kinda slowed on my own project because I have logbook concerns. But I had a promising letter from the dvla stating that they wi processing my v5c on the 27th woot

I'll carry on with it today and pop some pictures up later.

Today we have been out and about in my dads scamp. It's so much fun BUT it's already reminding me of the mini days. Haha, hyd clutch problems :/
