IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
Make it a date folks.......the International Mini Meet comes back to the UK in 2014. It is at Detling Showground near Maidstone (daan saaf). The dates are from 2pm on Thursday the 31st of July until 12 noon on Monday the 4th of August. The venue is very accessable from Europe so it looks like being quite an international event.

Is it too late to book this?
Hi Chris,
As you know I am only just trying to get back into Scamping; but would really like to attend this show especially as it is on my "door step" so to speak!
I would even be prepared to drive someone else's Scamp if I am still Scamp-less by then, I would be prepared to cover my own entry etc.
Changing the subject but not I think, the venue, I will most certainly be going to the Detling Kit Car Show in a Scamp or my NG TA (in April from memory).
Best Regards RG aka NG Guy

Re: IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
O.k.,back on the scene after a bit of an absence(busy at work and decorating).
I met the IMM organisers at Stanford Hall and basically they have told me that if everyone who wants to go books direct, and then, nearer the date we will tell them how many there will be to our club stand.
So go to http://www.imm2014.co.uk/ and book your place (£65.00 per adult children under 12 free, and that includes your welcome pack inc. tee shirt, diner on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday Morning,i'm afraid it's an extra £15.00 for a caravan or camper van)
THEN TELL ME YOU HAVE BOOKED AT scamp_mag@yahoo.co.uk so that I can get some idea of numbers to book the club stand.

Thanks for the update on this Chris.
One clarification I would like, are Trailer Tents counted as Tents OR Caravans?

£65 what a bunch of robbing blighters. Crikey and some folk complained about the price increase at Stourport. On a brighter note jayne (who) and i hope youve all had a marvelous christmas day, best wishes and happy scamping for 2014!

Happy New Year Scampers!
Have to agree with Davy Here, although I feel "£65 what a bunch of robbing blighters" is a little strong; I will be giving this event a miss in favour of cheaper alternatives, e.g. The Ardingly Vintage and Classic Vehicle Show (VCV) in July.
Best regards RG.

Re: IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
Me too.
The Stamford Mini show in September is more than enough in one year. Minis, they all look the same don't they ;-)
I much prefer attending the kit-car shows instead. :-D
Re: IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
Is it really such poor value? The 2009 IMM at longbridge had excellent entertainment and there were mini marcosses and a unipower also a twini scamp for sale so a little more than just minis. THe atmosphere was fantastic with so many overseas visitors the show. The Dutch being particularly amusing!!
Your adult IMM2014 entry includes, up to 4 nights camping, a welcome drink, 2 course Saturday night sit down meal, Sunday breakfast with drink, exclusive IMM2014 T shirt and welcome pack, plus 4 days of fun and entertainment
If it is anywhere as good as 2009, in my humble opinion it is not unreasonable.

Hi John,
Put like that, it doesn't sound such a bad deal; however not sure I would want to spend 3 or 4 nights camping at the Detling Showground.
Regards RG.

John put it another way, if your running a family like most scampers then its not quite a bargain. It should be bums on seats not having your arm forced. £25 would be better. If the new world of up and coming mini owner ie youth are forced to pay over £1000 for their insurance how are they going to find £65. Unless mummy and daddy pay.

Rob
Every IMM is over prescribed with people wanting to go.
So that's hundreds of people who don't agree with you.
Those of us who have the money and think that its a reasonable price will go
YOU WONT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
Having attended 3 IMM'S in recent years (Bavaria, Switzerland and italy) all in the scamp, the ticket fee has always seemed a minor cost compared to the overall logistical nightmare of getting 5-6 vehicles and twice the number of people there and back again.
That said when you look at the £65 price in the uk it seems higher in relation to the others in Europe, but this price or the equivalent in euro's seems to be the norm for the events now the only thing i would say is that it would be nice to see heavier discounts for familys etc cos as mentioned it can get very dear.
But then again we cant have it both ways, a large dedicated event for one sub-set of the classic car world over several days with all the logistics that this entails with several thousand cars thrown in as well and we would like it for 1.50 too please

Opinions
As GT3 Rob says we are all entititled to our opinoins.
Before I express mine I try to consider if they are valid or of any use to others.
I freely admit I have only been to one previous IMM in 2009. Despite it being a very soggy site I (and I believe the others that were there) had a great time. £65 is not cheap but (in my opinoin) you do get quite a lot for you money. Apart from the list of what you recieve in my previous post, also included are two evenings of live entertainment. Rob expresses concerns about SOC members with families but does not seem to have noted that children under 12 have free entry. Sadly those with teenagers will have to pay the full price. However, whilst it makes it no better, most people with families will be used to having to pay a small fortune to take their children with them. (Try the cost of a theme park for just one day) I dont recall it ever being cheap to take a "family" anywhere. They can always wait until the kids no longer need to be with them and go on their own. I save comments such as "Robbing blighters" for companies that enforce charges such as taxes and utility companies etc which you have no option but to pay. If I feel something is not good value to me I will not buy it. I will not puplicly slag people off without a few of the facts. It seems so far most of of us going this year went in 2009, that surely would suggest we think it worth the cost. Not sure if Rob has been to an IMM, maybe he has and found it poor value. If he has not is he really in a position to make a useful contribution on this subject. The comment "perhaps its £65 per club" (in my opinion) is laughable. Sorry to see MK3 Rob took the bait and resorted to capitals! Hope to meet up with the old faces and a few new ones if they have not been put off by such negative comments. It would be a shame not to go based on GT3 Robs comments. It really should be a great show. Anyone still interested in going should take a look at the IMM website book their tickets before they go up to £70 and let Chris Westgate know so he can ensure the club stand is large enough.
Have a fantastic New Year everyone. Hope to see a few of you at some of the shows.

Re: IMM 31st July to 4th of August 2014
The Copples have said that they are looking at camping nearby and coming as day visitors on one of the days, might be another way of seeing the show without the cost. I hope we can get the numbers, after all it is an international show and it only happens every 5 years over here.
For your £65.00;
One unique tee shirt - value approx £12.50
One evening meal on Saturday night- approx. £10.00
One Breakfast on Sunday Morning - approx. £5.00
3 nights camping with shower facilities - approx. £11.00 per night per person with free evening entertainment.
What seems to be the problem????????
Oh,and kids under 12 go free!
