Does anyone still use lead as a filler these days?

My neighbour of 30 years, a retired GPO telephone engineer, moved out recently. Among the tools and materials he disposed of in my direction are a few kilos of lead solder, the sort once used for sealing underground telephone cables. If anyone can find a use for it, let me know.
