Its worth searching the Scamp web site for pictures of your Nk2 Scamp and its registration number as this could become part of the proof your car has been a Scamp for a long time.

Hi Swampy,

A lot of pre-'83 Mk2s kept their donors' registrations: if it's one of these, with a year letter suffix, you should be OK. However if your registration has a year letter prefix, you may have a problem as it should have been re-registered with a "Q" plate.

All is not lost, however, if you can prove your Scamp has been used on the road for any length of time, i.e. not just until the donor's MoT ran out. If you could let us know the registration, we'll have a trawl our photo albums.

An afterthought - if you have the V5, does it show the donor's chassis number or the Scamp's?

Does it definitely have nothing in the Notes section of the V5C along the lines of 'Rebuilt from parts some, or all of which are not new'?

Do you have any history with it such as MOT test certs or old road fund license discs showing Scamp as the make?

Might be worth filling in a V888 form to get a copy of the DVLA's records for it to see if there is anything of use already on record like a chassis number change. Ask for the complete file and put 'personal archive' as the reason on the form.

Good luck and give Rick a call.

scamp registration Empty DVLA

Post  sean397 Fri Jul 20, 2012 9:22 pm

Well after spending afternoon onto DVLA to try and get my V5 sorted it will be with me next week...they wanted it to go for a test but i pointed out it had been seen(gave them reference numbers, location of inspection, date, time and who inspected it) and all seems ok now ..spoke to the guy who dealt with the case originally so keep trying Swampy..
One thing on chassis numbers from a mini point of view it should start something like X-A2S1N-_____ and a scamp is AM________
