Turkey Run Sunday 28th December.
Hello you lot,
I have chatted to Steve Edmonds and we are doing a turkey run on Sunday the 28th December, around the Newark area, stopping for a pub lunch. There will be a gentle bit of green lanning, so if any of you that want to do your first bit of green lanning are welcome even the best off-roaders wont get stuck, if you got 35bhp or 350bhp dont worry its the driving skill or lack of it that counts we have a tow rope..
Honestly its just something to do...
Meet up at Newark about 10 ish, drive around the green lanes and pub for lunch and a chat....
Leave details if you are intrested...DONT leave anything if you arent...
So we can all see whos going, we arent intrested in your aunties dog....are we?
Contact Steve Ed or myself..
Thanks Rick

Turkey Run
Have been in contact with the local GLASS rep. to check on the green lanes we wish to use.............
Waiting for a reply.
Dave, if you are stuck for a motor, I have a Scamp you can borrow for the day.
Is that enough incentive to keep you away from the sales................

Will be checking the route a week after the Christmas Dinner.
Hi fellow Scampers
Steve and I will be driving the route over the weekend after the Christmas Dinner to make sure everything is open and OK.
The route is about 65 miles and we are looking for a decent pub to stop for lunch. I there is time, we will be doing a bit in Linclonshire, the old Ermine Way.
Is there anyone who wants to follow ?
Contact me or Steve Ed for details, or leave a message on here.

Turkey Run.
After a great day getting down and dirty, we eventually ran out of daylight. The lanes varied from easy to challanging, so should prove to be a good days entertainment.
Pub lunch is booked for our group at 2 ish at the Greendale Oak, Cuckney, south of Worksop, just off the A 60. NG20 9NQ. Phone number 01623 844441. Carvery lunch is £7.99.
See you at MacDonalds at 9.30 am, at the junction of the A46, A17 and A1 roundabout, north of New-ark.
Bring warm clothes and a flask of tea for Rick.
P.S. Be there, otherwise you will incur my displeasure..........................

turkey Run.
Hello fellow Scampers
Thank you to the 9 cars that turned up to the Turkey Run.
We were late starting due to Steve Ed getting four cars ready for various people.
Dave Partlett from Nuneaton was the first casualty with wet electrics after going through a big puddle a bit too fast. A quick spray with WD 40 soon saw him on his way and he soon learned how much to give it.
Fred from New-ark did well on his first gren laning event and did not get stuck once, well done Fred !
Mark Lasseter from Redditch came up with Mike Smith as his passenger and did well, only getting stuck on the last most difficult lane of the day in the dark.
Bob Lilley came from Leighton Buzzard in his mark one and got round on 10 inch wheels and road tyres, well done mate.
We stopped for lunch and met up with Robin and Elaine who had been out walking in Sherwood Forest, Elaine is in traning for a 30 mile walk.
After lunch we continued on our merry way with the lanes getting harder as the daylight faded.
We stopped and asked everyone if they wanted to continue and everybody said yes, we all enjoyed ourselves and wanted to see it through to the end.
It was good to see some keen fellow Scampers again and am looking forward to the Easter do in the Peak District.
Rick N Rosie.

Re: Turkey Run Sunday 28th December.
Sounds like you had fun, in more ways than one!
Easter is always bad for us as well, Reg will be on-call...... Mind you I doubt his Audi Turbo'd beastie Scamp will be ready by 2010, never mind 2009! Sorry Reg! And somehow I don't think mine will be any good off-road with a ride height of about 11cm.
See you soon,
Elaine.

Thanks for mentioning that Rick
Following that I was a little more cautious.....Yes Fred....Slow.....I might as well admit I'm the SOC very own Captain Slow !
It was a really good day.......I hadn't a clue where I was going or where I'd been....but I learn't a lot, had a laugh, food at the pub was great, and despite a virtually open cockpit....we didn't get too cold.
Mark also loved the day.
Thanks to everyone for their help, support and
camaraderie.
Only managed a few pics

Re: Turkey Run Sunday 28th December.
Dont worry Dave, its a lot harder than some people think, theres a bit of skill involed in green laning in a 2 wheel drive car. You and the others where the hang of it. Glad everyone enjoyed it. Maybe we can get more green lane events in the coming year..

Just to put the record straight.
Steve Ed put a lot of effort into the Turkey run aswell. Anyone that has any photos of the event could you send them to Chris Yates..As I didnt take any, as camera eats batteries, sorry peps..
