Hi all, just wanted to know if my scamp is historic, It was built in 1978 as a demonstrator, i know this from the paper work that came with the car, i also know because i was a member of S.O.C. and it was verefide on the chassie plate 201, I am just about to recomision the scamp for the summer (if we get one) the car runs a 1300 engine,1100 gearbox and a 4.1.1 final drive, its great fun to drive being nippy but longlegged through the box, eny hoo if eny one can tell me if its historical or not i would be greatfull.. cheers every body see you on the open road in the summer. cliffy b

What's the registration number Cliffy?

The guy who could really answer your questions is John Medhurst, the colleague of Bob Mandry's who designed the Mk2. I'll PM you his e-mail address.

A chap called Martin Bates had one of the very first Mk2 Scamps,I have searched through my pictures but can't find it..He had one Mk 2 he eventually converted into a very slick racing Scamp and he had another one he used for offroading. If my memory serves me correctly there was something peculiar about the headlamps or the panels they were fitted into, something that was altered on later production runs.
