Hi,
New to the forum so apologies if this has already been answered. Would an unregistered scamp be unlikely to registered nowadays? (SVA?)

Thanks

Hi Adam,

And welcome to the Scamp forum. It is a question that you will find has been asked quite few few times, but we are not like most forums and insist that you use the search function Laughing

Unfortunately, an unregistered Scamp will not pass SVA or IVA or what every they are calling it nowadays. But that said, there are still a couple of routes open to you.

Just because the log paper does not say Scamp on it still doesn't mean it is incorrectly registered, there are quite a few floating about that still say Austin, or Leyland or Morris. But the very important bit is if it says somewhere on the V5 'Kit assembled from parts - some of which may or may not be new' or something like that.

Another route is to see if the car has any history dating back to before SVA. Old MOT certs and tax discs that show the registration number that is on the car and the V5 but state Scamp rather than Mini. This is proof that the car was on the road as a Scamp, all be it incorrectly registered, prior to the change in the regulations.

One final option, but don't quote me on this as I may have misunderstood, is that the Scamp Owners Club has signed up to a scheme being run by DVLA that will make a judgement about the issue of a correct V5 based on a statement issued by the club committee. But there is more about this somewhere on the forum. I am sure someone else will point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

That does help. I have read the DVLA document but I'm sure it's not in English.
