STOURPORT
Hello Fellow Scampers
The picnic is just a couple of weeks away, I know that Mike Smith is bringing his BBQ again and he does a mighty fine job cooking for 60 odd people wanting cooked food at once. I am asking if anyone that has a large BBQ would they like to bring it along with them to help out, you don't have to cook if you don't won't to.
Jono helped out the other year and we are very grateful, I am not hinting Jono at all. An oil drum type BBQ or a gas one will do. The club will pay the gas or the coal for it, plus you get a choice to choose your burger hows that!!!!!!
Please let me know if you can help out, I don't want to feel guilty by loads of people turning up offering BBQ's when we only need another one or two. Thanks.
There will be quite a few new members at Stourport that I and most of you members haven't met before so you will be seeing some new faces, and Scamps.
Take care have a safe journey see you there.
Rick.

Treasure hunt at Stourport
Some time ago I did say I would create a treasure hunt around Stourport, that people could do at their leisure during the weekend. My suggestion is - £2 for the sheet - winner announced on Monday - takes the loot!
Well, I'm halfway there now - route planned and some clues written. Tony and I were going out this pm to finish it off.
BUT...
Those of you on 'Facebook' will have already seen - a slight accident this afternoon has put paid to my evening's plans.
I tried to reconjour my youth, support my daughter and get fit at the same time -
Basically I fell off a horse and, although nothing appears to be broken (just a wrist to check out tomorrow), I can't walk - or drive, due to bruising
so... hoping to be able to move enough tomorrow to get out and finish it.
I hope people will have a go and enjoy the ride around the lovely countryside nearby - any car will do - no green lanes unfortunately but mostly on quiet, single track roads.
Anyway - by hook or by crook (crutches and bandages!) I will be there. Really looking forward to it!

Thanks Jono!
Much better this am. No breaks, soft tissue damage.
Will be at Stourport.
Incidently - I prefer 'They Shoot Horses Don't They?'

Re: STOURPORT
Surely the only purpose of horses is to act as a measure of a cars performance !
Oh & slow cars down on country lanes !
A Treasure Hunt sounds like a cracking idea...Count me & the munchkin in.
Incidentally, is Tony doing the "Green Laning" again this year ?
Cheers

Re: STOURPORT
No green laning this year as we did all the local ones last year although if anyone does fancy another crack at them, I can give you a map of them and a few of you can get together - or Tony might like to get out and try them again. Will ask him tonight.
Glad you like the idea of the treasure hunt. Hope others join you.

Re: STOURPORT
Hope your injuries heal sufficiently for you to enjoy the weekend......if not I'm sure copius amounts of alcohol will do the trick
Unfortunately, we won't be attending and will be in Devon at a family event (re-arranged at the last minute).
We hope everyone has a good weekened and the weather is kind....

If I remember right,we had wobbly bob at the Hastings beer festival. And James, I have arranged with Mr William Grant to supply me with a bottle of his amber water, purely for medicinal purposes of coarse.

Can't believe this was taken at Stourport 11 years ago - I have less hair, a bigger belly, no Cyclops but still have the hi-lift

Sadly no 'Dark Destroyer' 9.5%ABV from the Dark Tribe Brewery
Now there's a beer I gotta try!

Re: STOURPORT
Its a short walk (for fit people, long for the rest of us) to the beer hall but would definitely recommend getting a taxi back after sampling the various brews

Treasure Hunt
Ok. Following twopeople asking about green laning, Tony is happy to go out with a few to do a little green laning - same lanes as last year cos there are not any more locally!! prob Sat pm or maybe Sunday pm.
The Treasure hunt is now ready for production - 24 clues across 25 miles of mainly minor roads.
Having never created one of these things before, I have no idea how well or badly it will work so please forgive me any mistakes or stupid errors!
I do hope people will have a go and make it worth winning the entrance fees paid. We went round the course last night and there are some interesting little roads and beautiful views. Some interesting places to visit if so desired and many local hostelries en route.
Hopefully you will have fun
I do hope the rain dries up and the sun comes out soon
See you all soon

Well done Lin
The most important thing is to tell everyone where the start is and the pub is that we end up at.
Every thing in between is just the filling.

Re: STOURPORT
Hope you all had as good a weekend as we did.
We couldn't join you's for long this year, because we were catching up with a couple of Scampers from the 1990's..... Mike & Stacy had party celebrating the life of their latest arrival, Mazzy.
Elaine&Reg.

A Great Weekend
Many thanks to everyone for another fabulous weekend.
Today the sun shone - and shone - and shone!
Many thanks to those who voted Taz the best Mk 3.
Tony has suggested another category of award - Unsung hero of the year.
There are many people who have done lots to help other members - parts, knowledge, towing etc but someone we think should be acknowledged for helping almost everyone is Adam Wilson. He is always there to help if needed with that - oh so important - knowledge. Whether it is something simple or a complete engine swap, Adam is there to lend a hand.
So... our vote for unsung hero of the year would definately go to Adam
